Phenotyping Almond Orchards for Architectural Traits Influenced by Rootstock Choice

چکیده

The cropping potential of almond (Prunus amygdalus (L.) Batsch, syn P. dulcis (Mill.)) cultivars is determined by their adaptation to edaphoclimatic and environmental conditions. effects scion–rootstock interactions on vigor have a decisive impact this success. Intensively planted orchards with smaller less vigorous trees present several benefits for increasing orchard profitability. While studies examined rootstock tree vigor, it clear how rootstocks influence more specific aspects architecture. objective current study was identify which architectural traits commercially important scion are influenced these can be useful as descriptors performance in breeding evaluations. To do this, 6 commercial significance were grafted onto 5 hybrid rootstocks, resulting 30 combinations that measured after second year growth. We observed choice mainly branch production, but the not consistent across different evaluated. This lack consistency response highlights importance unique interaction between each its respective genotype.

Rootstock Options for California Almond Orchards

Nemaguard has been the workhorse rootstock of the California almond industry for many decades. It is well adapted to the well-drained, non-calcareous loam and sandy loam soils common throughout the San Joaquin Valley. Nemaguard is vigorous, immune to rootknot nematode, compatible with all almond varieties, doesn’t sucker much, has decent anchorage and is easy to grow at the nursery. However, th...

Tree centric localisation in almond orchards

Robotics and intelligent sensing systems can provide useful information to improve yield and quality in specialty crop production. A key requirement for treecrop applications is the ability to associate sensed data to the individual trees in an orchard. A mobile ground robot with a scanning lidar (laser range sensor) is used to build a three dimensional (3D) model of an orchard and algorithms a...

LiDAR Based Localisation in Almond Orchards

In this paper we present an approach to tree recognition and localisation in orchard environments for tree-crop applications. The method builds on the natural structure of the orchard by first segmenting the data into individual trees using a Hidden Semi-Markov Model. Second, a descriptor for representing the characteristics of the trees is introduced, allowing a Hidden Markov Model based match...

Survey of Leafhopper Species in Almond Orchards Infected with Almond Witches'-Broom Phytoplasma in Lebanon

Leafhoppers (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Cicadellidae) account for more than 80% of all "Auchenorrhynchous" vectors that transmit phytoplasmas. The leafhopper populations in two almond witches'-broom phytoplasma (AlmWB) infected sites: Tanboureet (south of Lebanon) and Bourj El Yahoudieh (north of Lebanon) were surveyed using yellow sticky traps. The survey revealed that the most abundant speci...

Monitoring the Attack Incidences and Damage Caused by the Almond Bark Beetle, Scolytus amygdali, in Almond Orchards

The almond bark beetle, Scolytus amygdali Geurin-Meneville, is responsible for significant loss of fruit production in almond orchards throughout the world. Here, we studied the damage and the incidences of S. amygdali attack on two different scales: (1) at the level of a single tree; and (2) in an entire orchard. Our results revealed no differences in attack level among four orientations (east...
